Stables at Vergelegen: Child-friendly Bistro Restaurant

My family and I love an outing to the beautiful Vergelegen Estate to enjoy a meal at the child friendly Bistro, Stables at Vergelgen, and exploring all the estate has to offer. The exquisite landscaped gardens, historical Homestead and Library, ancient Camphor trees over 300 years old, spectacular views of the Hottentots Holland mountains, incredible kids play area, world class restaurants and award winning wines all contribute to the unique experience at this beautiful estate.

Stables at Vergelegen is a lovely, relaxed restaurant to dine at and perfect for families with breath-taking views of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The restaurant has modern décor with beautiful furniture and solid wood tables. My family and I have had lunch there a few times with our young children and have enjoyed it each time. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, cake and tapas (in the Summer) with a contemporary menu, and they have a little VIP’s menu for kids. The service is exceptional and the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and professional and assist with any requests. I booked a table outside, which I recommend if your children are young, so they can play on the lawn in front of the tables while you are eating as the play area is a little distance away. The play area is still in view of the outside tables, if your children are older and do not need to be supervised while playing.

The play area is lovely, one of the best I’ve seen. They have definitely taken pride in constructing this for our little ones, all specially handcrafted with a large custom designed jungle gym, slide, swings and beautifully handcrafted wooden animals. Safety is of top priority at Vergelegen with spongy flooring around the play area and even the small trickle of water is purified, ideal for kids to get cool in the summer heat. It really is lovely with beautiful mountains in the background it almost feels tranquil, if that’s possible with kids 🙂 After our meal we always enjoy spending time here with the kids, they love it.

In the Summer months a Tapas menu is served after lunch, and cake and coffee is available to order all day.
