    The lively Root 44 Markets situated on the Audacia Wine Farm in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands is a fantastic child friendly market to visit.     It’s a family affair on Sunday’s at the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate at the Sunday Family Market. There is plenty of entertainment for kids including pony rides, jumping castle, go-karts, Thomas the Train ride and a jungle gym.     Brenaissance Wine and Stud Estate

    Café Blanc de Noir, hidden behind plum orchards and set on a wooden deck overlooking the vineyards, you will find this relaxed cafe serving tasty pizzas with a casual ambiance. It is the perfect location to spend a lazy afternoon of pizza and wine.The menu is all about delicious thin-based, wood-fired pizzas and they have kids size pizzas too.     Middlevlei Wine Estate

    Middelvlei Wine Estate is run by the Momberg family, inviting you to join them for a traditional South African boerebraai experience. The farm, with a true rustic South African vibe, is very welcoming to families with plenty of entertainment for kids (and mom and dad!) This is the only farm I know of that offers this truly South African traditional experience on a wine farm in Stellenbosch. While mom and dad relax with a bottle of Middelvlei wine, the kids can have a good time too.     Mont Marie

    The exquisite Mont Marie is not a wine estate but is located in the Stellenbosch Winelands, and truly is a gem. I highly recommend visiting Mont Marie with the little ones.     Mulderbosch Vineyards

    Set in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands Mulderbosch Vineyards is a wonderful child friendly wine estate to visit and is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon with family and friends.

    The Tasting Room serves heavenly pizza, cheese and meat platters. They have a kids play area with jungle gym, slide and swings.     Skilpadvlei Wine Estate

    Skilpadvlei Restaurant is a family friendly restaurant, serving traditional South African cuisine.     Spier Wine Farm

    Spier is a wonderful wine estate to enjoy a relaxed Gourmet Picnic in the scenic Stellenbosch Winelands. The beautiful scenery around the Spier dam with views of the Helderberg Mountain provides the perfect setting with plenty of trees for shade and a jungle gym to keep the little ones busy. At Eight to Go Deli you can create your own Gourmet Picnic or you can pre-order a Gourmet Picnic. There is a jungle gym on the lawns.

    Tokara Wine Estate

    The charming Tokara Delicatessen on the beautiful Tokara Wine Estate is a lovely child friendly deli for a casual breakfast or lunch with the family with scenic views of the Simonsberg Mountains, olive groves and vineyards. For the children they have a natural wood jungle gym, slide and sandpit in front of the restaurant so you can watch your kids at all times from the veranda tables.     Vergenoegd Wine Estate

    Vergenoegd Wine Estate is a fantastic family destination in the Stellenbosch Winelands. There is plenty of entertainment for kids and families to keep them busy, it is easy to linger here all day. Vergenoegd believe in good, old fashioned entertainment for the kids. Outdoor games, giant chalk boards, cookie decorating and, of course the Duck Parade, Duck Tour and feeding the ducks.     Warwick Wine Estate is an outstanding family run wine estate, located in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands and the ultimate location for a Gourmet Picnic in the Winelands and the perfect place to relax with family or friends and ideal for children.     Weltevreden Estate is a wonderful discovery for families with a focus on entertainment for children. There are two dining areas. Carnival area is suitable for children of all ages and has a huge, fantastic play park with lots of jungle gyms, slides, trampoline and sandpit. There is a pizza making area for kids to make their own pizza.     Vredenheim Wildlife and Winery

    Vredenheim’s unique Big Cats Park is home to lion, tiger, leopard, cheetah and caracal. It is open daily 9am – 4pm. Guided tours are available on the hour every hour.

    Hudson’s a is a lovely, casual family friendly restaurant with stunning, picturesque views of the Winelands and beautiful landscaped gardens. They serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea seven days a week from 9am – 5pm. There is lots of space for the little ones to run wild and a small play area and jungle gym next to the restaurant.

  • Vergelegen Wine Estate

    The elegant Grande Provence is situated in the Franschhoek Valley, radiating with beauty, surrounded by mountains and vineyards.     La Bourgogne

    Located on a tributary of the Berg River, the farm is a subdivision of the original Bourgogne farm which was among the first Huguenot farms when it was granted to Pierre de Villiers by Simon van der Stel, the first governor of the Cape Colony, in 1694. Shaded by 150-year-old oaks, the farm house at La Bourgogne has a warmth and charm which captivates all who visit. Today, La Bourgogne Farm produces quality wines and olive oils.     La Motte

    Pierneef a La Motte Restaurant is located on the luxurious La Motte Wine Estate serving traditional Cape Winelands cuisine.     Laborie Wine Estate

    The beautiful Laborie estate is situated in the picturesque town of Paarl with Paarl Rock as the backdrop.

    The modern tasting space, Taste at Laborie, is their renovated tasting room. Kids can join in on the tasting experience with a grape juice tasting on the spacious veranda. They serve a selection of wine pairing options, tapas, platters, pizza and a kids meal. Kiddies tables are located on the veranda with colouring books and crayons. Across from the tasting veranda, a little distance away, is a jungle gym for the little ones, but it is across a farm road, but still in sight of the tasting area so more suitable for older children who can climb well.

    The Spice Route is an outstanding farm to visit offering a completely unique experience with a huge variety of entertainment to choose from.     Rhebokskloof Restaurant serves a child friendly Sunday Buffet. Situated in the historic Paarl Valley, nestled between the granite hills of Paarl Rock and is a welcoming estate to visit with the family with lots of fun for the little ones. For kids they have pony rides, a jungle gym, swings, seesaw and a jumping castle. Sunday Buffet is served from 12 – 3pm.

    Cape Point Vineyards Estate is absolutely breathtaking and a perfect location for a Gourmet Picnic with the kids. Located on the mountain slopes of Chapman’s Peak with picturesque ocean views over Noordhoek Beach, there is a jungle gym and swings for the little ones.

    Picnics are available Monday to Wednesday, and Friday to Sundays and need to be ordered 24 hours in advance, bookings essential. Payment is required to secure booking, refunds available if cancellation is made 24 hours in advance. Picnics are served between 12pm – 5pm and can be ordered by phone or email. Picnics are collected from the picnic deli, runners are available to assist you to you picnic spot. Blankets and pillows are provided, generally 1 blanket and 2 pillows per picnic basket.

  • Dunstone Estate

    The Stone Kitchen is very welcoming and charming bistro with a country feel to this lovely, child friendly restaurant perfect for families with small children. The bistro offers classic home-cooked dishes to enjoy with a selection of their cellar wines. Dishes include; homemade burgers, quiches, ribs and steak, sandwiches and wraps and vineyard platters. They have both an indoor and outdoor play areas including a soft play, Lego table, climbing wall, kids kitchens, jungle gym, mini golf, mini soccer pitch, swings, slides and a sandpit with sand toys. Tables are set in a garden surrounded by scenic mountains with blankets and pillows scattered on the lawn for families with babies, and anyone who wants to stretch out and relax. There are also kid’s sized tables, a smaller version of the adult tables, and plenty of trees for shade. The garden is safe for little ones to roam and you are able to watch them from the table.

    Bloemendal Wine Estate

    Bon Amis Café is a lovely, relaxed family restaurant located in the Durbanville Wine Valley, and forms part of Bloemendal Wine Estate. It has a wonderful play area for kids right in front of the restaurant in view of the outside tables. There are two wooden jungle gyms, a wooden house, swings and a kid’s mountain bike track, so remember to pack in the mountain bikes if you have. I would say the age range for the track would be from age 5 to 10. It is right in front of the restaurant but goes through the forest so you will not be able to see your kids the whole time.
