Middelvlei Wine Estate is run by the Momberg family, inviting you to join them for a traditional South African boerebraai experience. The farm, with a true rustic South African vibe, is very welcoming to families with plenty of entertainment for kids (and mom and dad!) This is the only farm I know of that offers this truly South African traditional experience on a wine farm in Stellenbosch. While mom and dad relax with a bottle of Middelvlei wine, the kids can have a good time too. Set in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands Mulderbosch Vineyards is a wonderful child friendly wine estate to visit and is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon with family and friends.

Spier Wine Farm

Spier is a wonderful wine estate to enjoy a relaxed Gourmet Picnic in the scenic Stellenbosch Winelands. The beautiful scenery around the Spier dam with views of the Helderberg Mountain provides the perfect setting with plenty of trees for shade and a jungle gym to keep the little ones busy. La Bourgogne

Located on a tributary of the Berg River, the farm is a subdivision of the original Bourgogne farm which was among the first Huguenot farms when it was granted to Pierre de Villiers by Simon van der Stel, the first governor of the Cape Colony, in 1694. The beautiful Laborie estate is situated in the picturesque town of Paarl with Paarl Rock as the backdrop.

The modern tasting space, Taste at Laborie, is their renovated tasting room. Kids can join in on the tasting experience with a grape juice tasting on the spacious veranda. Cape Point Vineyards Estate is absolutely breathtaking and a perfect location for a Gourmet Picnic with the kids. Located on the mountain slopes of Chapman’s Peak with picturesque ocean views over Noordhoek Beach, there is a jungle gym and swings for the little ones.

Dunstone Estate

The Stone Kitchen is very welcoming and charming bistro with a country feel to this lovely, child friendly restaurant perfect for families with small children. The bistro offers classic home-cooked dishes to enjoy with a selection of their cellar wines. Dishes include; homemade burgers, quiches, ribs and steak, sandwiches and wraps and vineyard platters. They have both an indoor and outdoor play areas including a soft play, Lego table, climbing wall, kids kitchens, jungle gym, mini golf, mini soccer pitch, swings, slides and a sandpit with sand toys. Tables are set in a garden surrounded by scenic mountains with blankets and pillows scattered on the lawn for families with babies, and anyone who wants to stretch out and relax. Bloemendal Wine Estate

Bon Amis Café is a lovely, relaxed family restaurant located in the Durbanville Wine Valley, and forms part of Bloemendal Wine Estate. It has a wonderful play area for kids right in front of the restaurant in view of the outside tables. There are two wooden jungle gyms, a wooden house, swings and a kid’s mountain bike track, so remember to pack in the mountain bikes if you have. I would say the age range for the track would be from age 5 to 10. It is right in front of the restaurant but goes through the forest so you will not be able to see your kids the whole time.
