Kid’s Season: Table Mountain 3 for 1 Special
It’s Kidz Season at Table Mountain! 2 kids ride FREE on the Cableway with the purchase of one return adult ticket. This offer runs from May 1 to September 30 and is valid on weekends, public holidays, and during the June and July school holidays!
The Cableway will be closed for annual maintenance from 24 July to 6 August, 2017.
Kid’s Season: City Sightseeing Bus and Boat 3 for 1 Special
The annual Kids’ City Sightseeing Special is back. Kids are FREE on the City Sightseeing Bus and Boat with the purchase of one adult one-day bus ticket and one adult ticket on the harbour cruise. The special runs from 1 May to 8 October 2017 and is valid on weekends, school holidays and public holidays. Kids under 5 are always FREE!

Peter Pan at Canal Walk
Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and the Darling children will transport theatregoers to the magical Neverland to be amazed by all its wonders during the winter holidays this year. The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company’s most popular show, Pinocchio, is based on the original Carlo Collodi classic of the little wooden puppet who has to prove himself to be honest and trustworthy before he can become a real live boy, with help and guidance from Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy. Follow Pinocchio and Gepetto on their adventures to Stromboli’s Puppet Theatre and inside a whale. Watch Pinocchio’s nose grow as he lies to Gepetto and see Jiminy Cricket magically turn into a life-size cricket. This is a traditional fairy tale with a modern twist.

Biodiversity and Waste Holiday Art Workshop: 19 July
What happens to all our litter and waste? Could we reduce, reuse or recycle it? Learners aged 10 – 12 will enjoy a walk in Kirstenbosch and come to appreciate just how special our biodiversity is. They will consider the impact litter and waste is having on our special plants and animals. Back at the Gold Fields Education Centre they will use waste materials to make a useful item, which they will taken home with them.

Nature’s Treasure Box Holiday Art Workshop
Children aged 6 – 9 love this workshop. They enjoy a game and a story linked to the theme. They are led into Kirstenbosch Garden in small groups by our education officers, where they have fun in nature and discover just how varied and beautiful it is. They return to the Gold Fields Education Centre, where they paint and decorate a box into which they place some of nature’s treasures. Be sure to book early, as this workshop usually fills up fast!

Kids Studio: From Farm to Family
Kids Studio: From Farm to Family is an interactive learning experience for young children, designed by Cape Town–based Studio-H to teach children more about healthy, balanced eating and where the food we consume comes from. ‘Farm to Family’ is a five-part journey, based on five pillars: (1) Discover, (2) Learn, (3) Grow, (4) Taste, and (5) Share. Each step will have a specific learning area and activity attached to it, ranging from choosing food stuffs based on the different food groups, to tracing the food journey and making a ‘face mask’ of different foods.
Three 1.5-hour sessions will be held each day, to facilitate a full experience for each child. Please note that while the programme is free, entry will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

PLAY-DOH Kitchen Creations Junior Chef Competition
Calling all budding master chefs – the PLAY-DOH Kitchen Creations Junior Chef Competition is coming to the V&A Waterfront these winter school holidays to put young ones’ creativity to the test! Sponsored by Hamleys and FREE to attend, the competition will include a Master Chef–style ‘cook-off’. Children will compete to make the best kitchen creations using PLAY-DOH, all for the coveted prize of a Kitchen Creations set.

Incredible Illusions: Jaw-dropping 3D illusions: 4 – 23 July
Incredible Illusions, the largest collection of 3D illusions created by master artist Kurt Wenner, is open at the V&A Waterfront to enthral both young and old alike. Comprising a jaw-dropping Grand Gallery of 360° 3D illustrations supported by a collection of humorous and adventurous images, this will be the exhibition’s first stopover on the African continent. Fun from beginning to end, the Incredible Illusions exhibition includes an Art Jamming zone where children and adults alike can learn the basics of 3D artwork to express themselves creatively. An educational zone tells the brief story of ‘Pavement Art’ and how the mathematical field of geometry plays a pivotal role in compiling a 3D design.
