Visiting Table Mountain with Kids

0

YAY! Cableway’s Kidz Season is back, when two kids ride the cableway for FREE with the purchase of an adult return ticket! This offer runs from May 1 to September 30 and is valid on weekends, public holidays, and during the June and July school holidays!

A visit up the iconic Table Mountain is a great family outing! If you live in Cape Town, take advantage of the Kids Season Special and head up the mountain with your kids before the end of September and they get to ride the Cableway for FREE! This special runs every year usually between May and September, check their website for exact dates each year. Kids under 4 are always FREE 🙂

The Cableway is much excitement for the little ones and a visit up our beautiful mountain is an absolute essential experience for all Capetonians. Experience the breathtaking views and sheer greatness this mountain presents!

The state of the art Aerial Cableway whisks you up the mountain in 5 minutes and has a revolving floor to provide you with 360-degree panoramic views, which will leave you in awe of the absolute beauty of Cape Town (so don’t worry if you do not get the prime spot in the Cableway, the floor revolves around so everyone gets the view). Prams can ride up the Cableway.

Once on top there is a well-designed walkway, which is pram-friendly, that leads you from the Upper Cable Station around a circular path back to the Station. It may seem a little tricky in parts with a pram but we did it and I am glad we did with a busy 2-year-old both parents where happy to have him strapped in. If you have a baby a pouch is ideal. There are various viewpoints to take in the breathtaking panoramic views of Cape Town, the Peninsula, Camps Bay and Robben Island.

Free 30-minute Guided Tours take place every hour from 9am – 3pm. They are family-friendly and knowledgeable staff will share the story of Table Mountain and the Cableway.

Tickets

Pre-purchase your tickets online at Webtickets and go early morning or late afternoon, if you can. There is a separate, and shorter queue for tickets holders. This is a lifesaver with kids when the queues are long and jumping past the tellers is a huge help.

Table Mountain Café

Table Mountain Café provides a selection of delicious self-service meals, snacks, refreshments and kid options. Breakfast is served daily from opening time, 10:30am until 11:30 and then lunch and light meals are served. The kitchen closes at 4pm and the Café half an hour before the last car down. Wine and beer are also available. They are eco-friendly and plates, cups and containers are made from organic biodegradable materials.
