Some of my Favourite Child Friendly Wine Estates

0

There are so many reasons to visit a Wine Estate with the family, beautiful locations, outstanding dining experiences, wine tasting, grape juice tasting for kids, animal experiences, amazing play areas and plenty of space for the kids to run wild 🙂

Here are some of my Favourite Child Friendly Wine Estates to visit with the family:

HELDERBERG WINELANDS

Vergelegen Wine Estate

My family and I love an outing to this beautiful estate and easily spend the day here exploring and enjoying all that it has to offer. The exquisite gardens, historical Homestead and Library, ancient Camphor trees over 300 years old, spectacular views of the Hottentots Holland mountains, incredible kids play area, world class restaurants and award winning wines all contribute to the unique experience at this estate.

There are two restaurants, Camphors at Vergelegen offers a fine dining experience and Stables Bistro is a lovely, child-friendly restaurant to visit with the family. They also offer Gourmet picnic’s in the magical Camphor Forest between November to April.

They have an amazing play area for the little ones positioned a little distance away from Stables, it can be seen from the outside tables but not close enough to watch young ones. There is lawn space in front of the restaurants outside tables for the little ones to play while you are eating.

The kids play area is one of the best I’ve seen. They have definitely taken pride in constructing this for our little people and it has all been specially handcrafted. It really is lovely with beautiful mountains in the background the play area almost feels tranquil, if that is possible with kids 🙂 There is a wooden jungle gym, swings and a specially handcrafted wooden tractor and animals for them to play on. Honestly they have done a great job and my kids love playing here.

Vergelegen has a special place in my heart and is one of my favourite estates to visit. Click here to read more about Vergelgen

Spier is a welcoming, family friendly wine estate to visit with plenty of family entertainment on offer.

They have outstanding award winning wines which can be sampled in their tasting room and they offer a kid’s grape juice tasting so they can share in the experience. Click here to read my blog about Grape Juice tasting with the kids.

There are a few dining options. You can create your own gourmet picnic basket from local, organic produce at Eight to Go Deli or you can pre-order a Gourmet picnic basket. The beautiful scenery around the Spier dam with views of the Helderberg Mountain provides the perfect setting with plenty of trees for shade and a jungle gym to keep the kids busy.

On the farm you will find Eagle Encounters, a wildlife rehabilitation centre for birds of prey. They offer the opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent birds which have been rehabilitated.
