95 at Morgenster is located on the beautiful 300-year old Morgenster Estate in the picturesque Helderberg Wine Region in Somerset West. It is a world class restaurant that excels in all areas and is the perfect combination of exceptional food and fine wines in a romantic setting.
The world renowned Italian Chef Giorgia Nava, with two successful restaurants on his resume, has used some of the popular dishes to create the perfect menu at this stunning restaurant. His philosophy is to combine the finest Italian cuisine with stylish, minimalist interiors and subtle décor, allowing customers to enjoy both food and aesthetics, and this is true to 95 at Morgenster.
The menu consists of authentic, genuine Italian food of the highest quality using fresh local and imported ingredients delivering delicious, unpretentious meals. This is Italian heaven.
The beautiful scenery of this restaurant with views overlooking mountains and the reed lined dam create the perfect romantic setting with a relaxed ambience.
Hubby and I spent a perfect afternoon at Morgenster Estate, firstly in the Tasting Room tasting their fine wines and the world’s BEST olive oils. Then getting cosy and romantic in the restaurant over delicious food and outstanding wines on the picturesque vine-covered veranda, pure bliss for parents of busy kids. It was so needed and relaxing taking time out for our relationship to connect with each other in this modern society and busy way of life.
For starters we shared the Salmone Tartare and Insalata Caprese, with a different spin on the presentation served in a blended cold tomato puree with Morgenster extra virgin olive oil, which I thought was a brilliant interpretation on this Italian traditional dish to incorporate the Morgenster olive oil. Both dishes were outstanding and delicious.
For mains I had the New York style seared Tuna, ridiculously fresh and seared to perfection. Hubby chose the homemade Ravioli of slow baked Karoo Lamb shoulder with sage butter and parmesan, again perfection. Both dishes were delicious and highly recommendable.
We didn’t miss the opportunity to squeeze in some dessert, I think we would have been totally insane if we didn’t. Hubby chose the Dark Chocolate Fondant with a liquid centre, naturally being the crazy chocoholic that he is and once again, it was perfection. I had the Meringue, a very interesting choice for me (cause I am also a crazy chocoholic ssshhh), but I am so happy I did because it was sensational I was so tempted to order another (oink oink)! For chocolate lovers I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and try this dessert, you will thank me later, yum!
The food was absolutely outstanding and of the finest quality and the service was exceptional and professional. I cannot fault anything at this restaurant, everything was incredible and it was an absolutely perfect afternoon in a romantic setting, ideal to connect with hubby and enjoy some downtime and each other’s company over delicious food and fine wine.
This restaurant is not to be missed and is perfect for a romantic meal or special occasion.
