The Company’s Garden Restaurant, inspired by its natural surroundings, serves a selection of hearty breakfasts, light meals and authentic South African and Cape cuisine. There is an enchanting feel to this causal, family friendly restaurant where kids can play in weaved, human sized bird nests or on carved animals while you eat and keep an eye on them. Café Paradiso

Located in Kloof Street in the CBD this welcoming, family café has designed an eating experience for adults to enjoy while their little ones and aspiring chefs are invited to supervised fun activities in the kitchen. Kids are offered an unique experience to make their own pizza, cookies or ice a cupcake. This is the only café, I know of, that offers this for kids, which I think is such a fantastic idea! (and of course they get to eat it too). Embracing the simplicity of food in a relaxed farm stall setting, everything is homemade from the hand churned butter and creamy mayonnaise to the daily baked breads and delicious preserves. Open Monday to Saturday 9am – 10pm; Sunday 10am – 3pm.

Great fun for the kids to climb up into the tree and play. There is also a jungle gym and swings and animals in the fields in front of the restaurant. Stables @ Vergelegen Wine Estate

Stables at Vergelegen is a lovely, relaxed child friendly restaurant and perfect for a family breakfast with breath-taking views of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The restaurant has modern décor with beautiful furniture and solid wood tables. The restaurant serves a contemporary breakfast menu from with a delicious selection of gourmet breakfasts, health breakfast, smoothies and bakery fare. There is a little VIP’s menu for kids. I recommend to book a table outside if your children are young, so they can play on the lawn in front of the tables while you are eating as the play area is a little distance away. The play area is still in view of the outside tables, if your children are older and do not need to be supervised while playing. The play area is beautiful and one of the best I’ve seen. They have definitely taken pride in constructing this for our little ones, all specially handcrafted with a large jungle gym, slide, swings and gorgeouns handcrafted wooden animals. Safety is of top priority at Vergelegen with spongy flooring and even with the small trickle of water is purified, and ideal for kids to wet in the summer heat. It really is lovely with beautiful mountains in the background it almost feels tranquil, if that’s possible with kids 🙂 Open daily from 9am – 5pm, breakfast served till 11:30am.
