Cafe Paradiso is an awesome family friendly café located in trendy Kloof Street in the CBD offering children a unique cooking experience to make their own pizza, cookies or ice a cupcake. This is the only café, I know of, that offers this for kids, which I think is such a fantastic idea!
The kids project in the kitchen is very well priced (R50) and they can choose from making their own pizza with ham or bacon, gingerbread man, chocolate chip cookies, or icing a cupcake, and of course they get to eat it too. My boys chose to make pizza’s and they loved the experience, rolling the dough, spreading the tomato sauce, and then placing the toppings on with mozzarella and bacon.
There are two kitchens on the premises, one for the meal preparations and one for the kids projects and dessert. The kitchen for the kid’s projects is well setup for the kids cooking and baking with a large table set on one side away from anything that could cause danger, as I checked out on arrival, as I have a very adventurous two-year-old. The ladies in the kitchen are very attentive and help the kids that require assistance. Once the projects are complete the ladies place them in the oven to bake and then the kids eat them.
While the boys were busy making their pizza’s mom and dad had some time to eat their own meal, which is always an awesome achievement for parents with little ones! We even managed a conversation 🙂
We sat at the back of the restaurant, right next to the kid’s kitchen so you can still keep an eye on your little one and are in close proximity if your children are nervous, you are not far away. If you prefer to sit outside there is a front courtyard with incredible views of Table Mountain.
This rustic café is the perfect, relaxed setting to escape the hustle and bustle of life, set below our majestic mountain, to enjoy some down time with the family and delicious home-style meals made from the freshest ingredients.
The menu embraces the simplicity of food with a selection of bakery-fare, homemade pasta’s, Mediterranean delights like tzatziki, dolmades and babaganoush, country-style dishes, fresh salads and healthy sandwiches.
Great service, friendly atmosphere and perfect for a rainy day outing with the kids.
We were fortunate to have the perfect, sunny winter’s day so after breakfast we went up Table Mountain. This was a lovely family day outing.
