Winter is here but do not fear our beautiful city Cape Town has plenty of indoor activities and entertainment for our little people to keep them busy during the winter holidays and on rainy days. Here are some ideas:

Artjamming

Artscape Theatre

Noddy, Big Ears, Tessie Bear and all their friends are back. Tessie Bear is very concerned about Noah`s Ark. Repairs are needed to stop the animals from escaping. The animals also need to be fed and stores are running low. Tickets on sale at Computicket.

Baxter Theatre

The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company’s most popular show, Pinocchio, is at the Baxter Theatre. Based on the original Carlo Collodi classic of the little wooden puppet who has to prove himself to be honest and trustworthy before he can become a real live boy, with help and guidance from Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy. This is a traditional fairy tale with a modern twist.

Canal Walk

Kirstenboch Gardens: Moyo Restaurant

Bring your kids to experience the magical Winter Wonders at Kirstenbosch from 1 – 23 July.  Entrance into the Garden is free for kids 17 years old and younger but some activities do have a price.

At Moyo, children can experience the beat of a drum through interactive live drumming, a popular puppet show or a mesmerizing magic show.   • The Nature’s Treasure Box Art Workshop: children aged 6-9 years on Thursday 20th July 2017 from 9am – 1pm. The morning will be filled with fun activities, storytelling, and an exploratory walk in our Garden. Children will create and decorate their special “Treasure Box,” just perfect for the treasures that they will find in the Garden.

Kids Studio: From Farm to Family
From Farm to Family is an interactive learning experience for young children, designed by Cape Town–based Studio-H to teach children more about healthy, balanced eating and where the food we consume comes from. Three 1.5-hour sessions will be held each day, to facilitate a full experience for each child. Incredible Illusions, the largest collection of 3D illusions created by master artist Kurt Wenner, is open at the V&A Waterfront to enthral both young and old alike. Comprising a jaw-dropping Grand Gallery of 360° 3D illustrations supported by a collection of humorous and adventurous images, this will be the exhibition’s first stopover on the African continent. Fun from beginning to end, the Incredible Illusions exhibition includes an Art Jamming zone where children and adults alike can learn the basics of 3D artwork to express themselves creatively. An educational zone tells the brief story of ‘Pavement Art’ and how the mathematical field of geometry plays a pivotal role in compiling a 3D design.
