With my in-laws here from Australia we decided to take them for lunch with the family to the Rumbullion Restaurant located off Kloof Road on the way to Camps Bay. A stunning setting but when we arrived we where showed to our table which we had booked on the lawn but there was no grass. I complained so we could move to a grassed area as we had the little ones with us and it would have just been a muddy mess. They where helpful and we moved to the lawn below which was grassed. We lost the ocean view but still had a stunning mountain view of the 12 Apostles.
The food and beverage menu is in a tick box style for you to select your choice and there is a picnic theme to the menu and restaurant. There is a selection of tapas, cheese, bread, salads, sandwiches, pizzas, hot dishes and kids meals. The food and service was good, maybe a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry.
If you are able to eat here without the kids then I would recommend, when booking, to reserve a table right at the top which has beautiful ocean and mountain views and definitely lets you enjoy the best of both worlds. There aren’t many of these tables so be specific when booking. If you do have the kids make sure they reserve you a table on a grassed lawn.
The kids kept themselves amused playing on the lawn. There is no jungle gym so I wouldn’t say its highly child friendly but with the outdoor setting on the lawn its perfect for a family lunch. We never linger with our little ones as they are still small and get restless.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere in a stunning setting for a casual lunch.
If fine-dining is more your thing there is the Roundhouse Restaurant which provides beautiful views but I have not eaten here. You can view their website for full details
