Altydgedacht Wine Estate is located in the Durbanville Winelands 25 kilometres from Cape Town. It is a wonderful rustic farm to visit with a relaxed atmosphere and child friendly. It is a popular eatery with locals and offers alfresco dining in a farm environment.
There is a play area for the kids with a jungle gym and sandpit, which is visible from the outside tables, and space for them to run and play. At the tables they have chalkboards for the little Picasso’s. There is also a big open field full of cows munching away to entertain the little ones. All we heard all afternoon was moo moo 🙂 Watch out for the sharp barb wire. Both my boys had a great time playing here and met some friends and kept themselves busy.
From the menu you can expect delicious meals prepared from quality ingredients on open fires. They serve hearty farm-style breakfasts, delicious light lunches, home cooked meals, mezze platters, cheese platter, Ploughman’s platters or you can create your own platter. Their signature dish is the chicken pot pie which my husband said was extremely tasty. They have a kids menu. A lovely way to spend a relaxed afternoon under the shady trees with a platter to share and a delicious bottle of their Altydgedacht Sauvignon Blanc. Bliss 🙂
If you are in the mood for a wine tasting you can pop in to the tasting room to sample their award winning wines from their flagship Pinotage to their signature Sauvignon Blanc. There values in long-standing tradition and modern methods blend to create premium quality wines full of character.
This is wonderful rustic family run farm to escape the busy world and relax for a few hours and enjoy a meal. It has a tranquil, country feel and perfect for families.
