Child Friendly Restaurants in the Winelands for Lunch

Here are some of my favourite child friendly restaurants for lunch in the Winelands.

96 Winery Road Restaurant

96 Winery Road, set in the heart of the glorious Helderberg countryside, has been part of the Winelands landscape for over 20 years, starting in 1996, as per the name. This success can be attributed to decades of hardwork and passion to achieve. The restaurant has a country feel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is a kids jungle gym located on the lawn in front of the restaurant.

One of my new favourites is The Bakery Restaurant at Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The food is outstanding, and the view breathtaking making it a winner for us. It is definitely a treat to dine here. There is a relaxed atmosphere, evident in the modern, yet simple décor in neutral shades with a splash of red, where visitors can unwind and enjoy the freshly produced fare amongst the aromas of baking bread, pastries and freshly brewed coffee. There is no jungle gym but the beautiful lawns in front of the outside deck provide plenty of space for kids to play and explore around the dam.

Stables at Vergelgen Wine Estate

Stables at Vergelegen is a lovely, relaxed child friendly restaurant and perfect for a family meal with breathtaking views of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The restaurant has modern décor with beautiful furniture and solid wood tables. The restaurant serves a delicious contemporary menu and there is a little VIP’s menu for kids. I recommend to book a table outside if your children are young, so they can play on the lawn in front of the tables while you are eating as the play area is a little distance away. The play area is still in view of the outside tables, if your children are older and do not need to be supervised while playing. The play area is beautiful, one of the best I’ve seen. They have taken pride in constructing this for our little ones, specially handcrafted with a large jungle gym, slide, swings and handcrafted wooden animals. Safety is of top priority at Vergelegen with spongy flooring and even with the small trickle of water is purified, and ideal for kids to wet in the summer heat. The view with the mountains in the background is breathtaking, it almost feels tranquil (if that’s possible with kids ?). This is a stunning Estate to visit.
