Child Friendly Breakfast Restaurants in the Winelands

If you are heading out for breakfast with the kids here are some of my favourite child friendly restaurants in the Winelands.

Jonkershuis Restaurant at Groot Constantia

Jonkershuis Restaurant is located on the beautiful, historic Groot Constantia wine estate, nestled in the lush Constantia Valley. This relaxed eatery, surrounded by ancient oak trees, is a lovely family friendly restaurantto enjoy a celebration with kids. Their food reflects the Cape Malay heritage and culture and is of the highest quality. They have an delicious breakfast menu with an excellent selection on the kid’s menu. There is no jungle gym for the kids but the lawns in front of the restaurant provide plenty of space creating an environment where all kids come together and play, run, chase and have old school fun. Click here to read more.

Millhouse Kitchen at Lourensford Wine Estate

The Millhouse Kitchen is located on the Lourensford Estate situated at the foot of the majestic Hottentots Holland and Helderberg Mountains. It is a lovely, relaxed restaurant for a family outing for breakfast with a large garden for the little ones to play in with three natural wood jungle gyms. They have an extensive breakfast menu and a kids menu. Only free range eggs are used. The restaurant has seating inside and out on both sides. On one side there is a deck and on the other side is the garden with the kids plays area so ensure when booking to request a table near the kids play area.

Stables @ Vergelegen Wine Estate

Stables at Vergelegen is a lovely, relaxed child friendly restaurant and perfect for a family breakfast with breath-taking views of the Hottentots Holland Mountains. The restaurant has modern décor with beautiful furniture and solid wood tables. The restaurant serves a delicious contemporary breakfast menu and there is a little VIP’s menu for kids. I recommend to book a table outside if your children are young, so they can play on the lawn in front of the tables while you are eating as the play area is a little distance away. The play area is still in view of the outside tables, if your children are older and do not need to be supervised while playing. The play area is beautiful, one of the best I’ve seen. They have taken pride in constructing this for our little ones, specially handcrafted with a large jungle gym, slide, swings and handcrafted wooden animals. Safety is of top priority at Vergelegen with spongy flooring and even with the small trickle of water is purified, and ideal for kids to wet in the summer heat. The view with the mountains in the background is breathtaking, it almost feels tranquil (if that’s possible with kids ?).
