    Blue Train Park

    The iconic, Blue Train in Mouille Point is a must for all kids. It’s been around for over 55 years, I used to ride it as a kid, and the kids love it. Situated in between the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, Lions Head and Signal Hill you could not ask for a more picturesque location. The small fee generates funds for the Rotary Club of Sea Point projects, so its not only fun but for a good cause too. There is a huge, secure garden with lots of jungle gyms, slides, bike track, rock-climbing wall, zipline, skating rink and lots more. This play park is sure to keep the little ones busy for hours. The park is closed on Mondays.

    Green Point Urban Park

    The best play park in Cape Town is located next to the famous Cape Town Stadium where you will Green Point Urban Park and Biodiversity Garden. This is the perfect place for the little ones to play and release their energy and it is suitable for all ages. There are two different play areas to choose from divided into the Tot-Lot Play Area suitable for ages 1 – 6, which is fenced. This area is great for the little adventurers and perfectly safe. The Adventure Play Park is for older kids, they say from 7 – 16 but my 4 year old plays there and loves it. On the weekends you need to be cautious with the little ones as it gets very busy and the older children tend to be more boisterous, and the younger kids are not as competent. Click here to read more.

    Two Oceans Aquarium

    Come and explore what the Cape Town Aquarium has to offer. Visit the stunning exhibitions, have a look on the website when the feeding time is as this promises to be a treat for the entire family. Penguin encounters and scuba diving with the Aquarium’s Rays and Tortoises can also be arranged. The I & J Playcentre inside the Aquarium also offers educational puppet shows and lots of other entertainment.

    Scratch Patch

    Scratch Patch was started in Simon’s Town in 1970. (It has since been “copied” in other parts of the world!) It is a place where you can have loads of fun “scratching” for your favourite tumble-polished gemstones from thousands of polished stones that quite literally cover the floor. It’s an inexpensive visit and popular with all ages – and being surrounded by so many colourful stones is a memorable and uplifting experience

    Indoor Cave Putt-Putt

    The Cave Golf course at the V&A (at the Scratch Patch, near the Aquarium) has become very popular with visitors to Cape Town’s world famous “waterfront”.

    This 18-hole mini-golf layout is fun to play, and despite being relatively short and compact, it’s well-designed and challenging enough to be enjoyed even by regular golfers.
    It’s also indoors, so can be played and enjoyed in any weather!

    Located in the Toy Kingdom store, at the V & A Waterfront, this is a fun activity for rainy days or for birthday parties.   • Acrobranch

    An outdoor adventure park swinging through trees including Tarzan swings, ziplines and treetop adventures. Located in the Constantia Nek forest there are two courses dedicated to kids and one obstacle course for teenagers and adults. The age groups are from age 3 – 6, from age 7, and the teenage and adult course has a minimum height of 1.4m. It is perfectly safe using harnesses with adult supervision.     Bike Park at Constantia Uitsig

    The Bike Park at Constantia Uitsig offers cyclists of all ages and skill levels laps and laps of fun. Featuring a variety of cross-country track stretching 3.5 kms through indigenous vegetation and scenic Constantia, there are beginner jump lines all the way to expert drop-offs, rock gardens, a wooden berm, rollers and a suspension sky bridge (that tracks the canopy of the trees) ending in a corkscrew exit.     Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard Imhoff Farm

    The Higgeldy Piggeldy Farmyard is one of the best petting zoos I have seen. There is an entrance from the garden at the child friendly Blue Water Café. It is amazing with lots of animals to pet and feed. My kids absolutely loved it. We spent ages walking around, feeding the animal and having a good laugh at some of them too, especially the ducks and emus. They have pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chicken, rabbits, guinea pigs, rabbits, cows, emus, alpacas and springbok.

    Strawberry picking in the beautiful Stellenbosch Winelands is a great family outing and lots of fun for the kids. Strawberry picking season is October to December. Strawberries are juicy, summery and delicious and an excellent Superfood! They are nutrient-rich and packed with antioxidants (like vitamin C) and offer a wide range of health benefits! Plenty of reason to get out into the strawberry fields with the family.     This is tons of fun for all riding downhill on a sled at an outdoor toboggan track. This is the only toboggan track in Africa! The sled races down a 1.2 km steel half pipe.
