The ULTIMATE experience in Cape Town is definitely a Helicopter Tour to experience the beauty of Cape Town from the skies. There is nothing like it, no words to describe it! The combination of the excitement and adventure of being in a Helicopter paired with the BEST view in the world. Wow! Absolutely incredible! To see it with your own eyes is something spectacular. The view from Table Mountain is incredible, but this is the next level to experience an aerial view of the most beautiful city is sensational. Love My Cape Town!
If you are thinking this experience is not affordable, you will be happy to know it is! NAC Helicopters have a flight sharing option which is only R1080 for the Hopper Tour which departs from the V&A Waterfront and flies over the City Bowl, Green Point Stadium, Clifton, Camps Bay and the majestic Twelve Apostles. This is flight I was on. The only downside was that is was a little short but the best things in life always have us wanting more, right!? The cost might still be a little pricey for some but it is definitely one for the Bucket List.
After arrival at the East Pier office in the V&A Waterfront the professional and friendly staff made me feel very welcome offering complimentary champagne, tea and coffee. I missed my morning coffee so this gesture was welcomed. When the Helicopter is ready to depart you will receive a safety briefing and then be escorted to the helicopter, strapped in with a safety belt and headphones placed on, to converse with the captain. The flight ascends quickly into the air and the adventure begins. The pilot informatively explains details of the Cape Town sights. Here is a photo tour of the flight:
NAC Helicopters are committed to service excellence providing the ultimate personal helicopter tour. Safety is of course a top priority and they have an accident and incident free record, and are well known as being one of the safest and most reliable helicopter operators in the country.
It was truly an incredible and special experience to view the Mother City from the skies and the Helicopter ride was such an amazing adventure. I’m hooked. Can’t wait to go again 🙂
- Children under the age of 2years old are NOT allowed to fly (as they are not allowed to sit next to an emergency exit by law).
Things to know:
- Arrive 30 minutes before departure.
- Mobile phones need to be switched off during the flight.
- It can be cooler, so be prepared with a jacket.
- If you are wondering… you are no longer allowed to fly over the top of Table Mountain as it is designated as part of a National Park and is a protected area.
In the NAC Helicopter fleet, they have a 3 seater, 4 seater and 6 seater.
Tours can be booked Private or Sharing. Sharing flights depart twice daily at 10/10:30am and 4/4:30pm.
PRIVATE FLIGHTS: This option entitles you to private use of the helicopter, and therefore is the more expensive.
SHARING FLIGHTS: Prices are more affordable and quoted per person, sharing a helicopter tour. Tours can be booked for either of two daily departure times. You may be matched up with others to fill the helicopter. Seating positions are not guaranteed and will be allocated to evenly balance the helicopter. You may fly in any of our three different types of helicopters, depending on how many other passengers we find to fly with you. A minimum of two passengers is required in order to commence the flight. If you are a single person we will try our best to find at least one other to join you, however, if we can’t find one extra person, the tour will have to be postponed for another departure time or date.
