My husband and I had a little time off from the kids and decided to explore the wine estates in Annandale Road in the Stellenbosch Winelands and had the most magical day.
We drove all the way to very end of the road to start our journey at the Boutique winery Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards (follow the signboards as the road splits). This estate has outstanding handcrafted wine and spectacular views of the ocean. We did a quick wine tasting and purchased the outstanding Sauvignon Blanc then it was time to move on with our tour.
We could have easily spent our afternoon sitting on the veranda relaxing and admiring the stunning views while wine tasting with a delicious cheese platter but the clock was ticking. This was a memorable estate to experience and I will definitely be paying another visit in winter time to taste there delicious red wines in front of the cosy fire place.
I feel fortunate to discover and experience unique wineries like this one and I can highly recommend a trip to Uva Mira and a perfect location to enjoy the sunset.
Our next stop was Guardian Peak for lunch. This is an outstanding restaurant with the most breathtaking views with a relaxed atmosphere, you will feel like you are sitting right in the middle of the vineyards. It was the perfect choice for a romantic lunch. The menu is al la-carte serving bistro style food and you can wine taste at the table while waiting for your meal. The food and wine where delicious. This is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the Winelands.
Our last stop was Ernie Els Wine Estate. This has to be one of the best views in the Winelands. It was a wonderful discovery, we almost drove right past the entrance. Fantastic wines can be sampled on the veranda while admiring the stunning view. There is a putting green where they host a fun chipping competition on the last Friday and Saturday of each month with great prizes up for grabs. There is a small menu serving light lunches including cheese and meat platters, but as we had just eaten lunch we didn’t get to taste the platters we saw coming out but they did look delicious. Inside you will fine Ernie Els’ Trophy Room with some of his finest achievements. We had a lovely relaxing time I can highly recommend a visit to Ernie Els.
