Stuck for idea’s for What To Do with the kids in the June / July holidays? Here is my list of some fun day outing ideas to do with the kids in and around Cape Town:

1. Table Mountain: Take the kids on the Cableway for FREE with the Kidz Season Special and enjoy spectacular views of the BEST city in the world 🙂

2. City Sightseeing Bus: Take the kids for a FREE scenic tour of Cape Town with the Kids Season Special on the open top, double-decker red bus

3. Company’s Garden: Stroll through the Company’s Garden, laugh at the adorable squirrels, enjoy a meal at the child-friendly Company’s Garden Restaurant and visit the Planetarium, which has a holiday program for kids, click here for details

4. Grand West Casino: Book a session at Snow World, play Ten-Pin Bowling or watch a movie – ideal for rainy days

5. Watch a Show: Noddy is on at Atrscape; the Wizard of Oz and Little Red Riding Hood are on at Somerset West Playhouse; Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment and Dora theExplorer are on at Grand West Casino

6. MV Logos Hope: Take the kids on the floating bookshop at the V & A Waterfront from 24 June – 11 July and enjoy some treats in their cafe

V&A Waterfront: Enjoy the kids Holiday Entertainment Programme at the V & A – click here for the full program, the Jolly Roger Pirate Boat is hugely popular with kids, ride on the Cape Wheel, scratch for a gem at Scratch Patch, play a game of putt-putt at Cave Golf if it is raining, or if it is sunny the kids can play in one of the play areas located outside the V&A Shopping Wharf and Clock Tower precinct

8. Two Oceans Aquarium: Visit the Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront and watch a puppet show on three times a day at 10:30am, 1:30pm or 4pm; then enjoy a harbour cruise on the City Sightseeing Boat – kids are FREE with the Kidz Season Special, departs from the jetty outside the Aquarium every 20minutes

9. Mouille Point: visit the wonderful Green Point Urban Park with two separate play areas for different age groups; play a game of Putt-Putt on the Promenade and visit the Blue Train Playpark and ride on the iconic Blue Train and let the kids run wild in the huge play park

10. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens: enjoy some Holiday Entertainment at Kirstenbosch Gardens – see the full program here. Children have FREE access to the gardens during the winter school holidays

11. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens: walk on the Tree Canopy Walkway and see the life sized Dinosaur sculptures made from tin; dine at child-friendly Moyo which has a lovely play area for the little ones, or bring your own picnic

12. Cape Town Science Centre: a great outing for kids and ideal for rainy day entertainment and they run a holiday entertainment program, click here for more details

13. Butterfly World: perfect for rainy days, set in a tropical garden, there are also reptiles, monkeys and more; for lunch head to child-friendly Floreal Brasserie on the Marianne Wine Estate

14. Giraffe House Wildlife Awareness Centre: open 7 days a week from 9am – 5pm; for lunch head to Weltevreden Wine Estate and let the kids play at Carnival

15. Drakenstein Lion Park and Chimp Haven: visit the sanctuary for rescued lions; for lunch head to La Grapperia at the Spice Route

16. Spier Wine Estate: grape juice tasting for kids while mom and dad wine taste; then visit Eagle Encounters; for lunch visit child-friendly Mulderbosch Vinyeards for gourmet pizza and a relaxed afternoon and play a game of Boules while the kids play on the jungle gym

17. Ratanga Junction: take advantage of the #Throwback special at Ratanga Junction, prices have fallen! Open 8 – 17 July, 10am – 5pm

Rainy Days: on those days it just rains and rains and you need to get the kids out to release their energy try Jump Around in Paarden Eiland, Rush in Claremont or for some rock climbing adventures try City Rock in Observatory or HangTime Gym in Pinelands and Belville or try the new be.Up Park in Pinelands which has a trampoline zone, maze area and a unique climbing adventure called clip and climb

30. Markets: Visit the lively, child friendly Root 44 Markets in the Stellenbosch Winelands every Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 4pm or the Sunday Family Market at Blaauwklippen Estate, on every Sunday 10am – 3pm with lots of entertainment for kids
